Sited on an exposed hilltop site in the Caribbean, this project explores the typology of the courtyard house.  This configuration allows every room an unobstructed view to the sea and surrounding islands, while simultaneously creating a lush introverted garden.  The large continuous overhangs will provide shade against the low western light, while evoking the wrap around veranda of the existing house and traditional Caribbean building.  While most of the program is on one level to maximize the views, the recording studio and move theater are below grade with skylights into the landscape pools above.  In contrast to the rigid nature of the architectural courtyard, the courtyard garden is a lush and colorful experience, and extends vertically to the sky above.
